Hello Irwin,
As an American and Jew (my late husband was from there/a survivor of Transnystria too) visiting Cz many times over the years, for research and for spiritual reasons and memories, I can tell you that my being there last October for almost 3 weeks was not enough. Of course all this depends on what your purposes are, whether you speak the language (I do not) and how much good food you can eat :)))
You can get to Lvov by plane or train and then take train or private car service to Cz, stay at a decent hotel in the center of town and even employ my friend, Zoya who is a tour guide to take you around. She is wonderful for individuals on a tight schedule and all you have to do is tell her Cora sent you. Write to me individually if you want. I live in the Hudson Valley...near Monticello...see my site below?

I'm planning a trip which would have me in Munich during the latter part of
May. I'm working on whether it's reasonable to travel to Chernivtsi - I'd
only be able to spend two or three days there. As far as I can tell, the
only way to get there is via Kiev on the Ukrainian airline. I'd appreciate
any advice about travel arrangements, in particular whether three days is
enough time, given the travel times involved, and any experience with
regard to travel and accommodations once there.

My parents were both from Czernowitz, left for the US in 1920 and 1921,
lived in the Hudson Valley of New York the rest of their lives.

Thanks for any and all advice and comments.

Irwin
