Czernowitzers...
Owing to active researching and editorial work of the Society activist of many years Yevgeniya Finkel, five volumes of reminiscences of the former Jewish prisoners of Nazi concentration camps and ghettoes were released between 1991-1996. From all five volumes of "Vestnik - Herald of the Eliezer Steinbarg Society of Jewish Culture in Chernivtsi" we have excerpted and transcribed the Holocaust victims lists and bring them to you as "Book of the Month, June 2018":

A word about the transcription: Not being familiar with Russian, in a first step we transcribed the names in their original Russian spelling. Then GoogleTranslate led us to a rough approximation. Based on our experience with the transcription of Jewish names from Bukovina, we edited the online translation accordingly. Although far from perfect, these Holocaust victims lists for Czernowitz, Storozhynets, Yasinia and Novoselitsa for the Years 1941-1944 (more than 3,600 names!) are definitely essential.
Dr. Svetlana Frunchak stated: "A particularly important source on the history of the Holocaust in Northern Bukovina and, to a lesser extent, neighboring regions, is a series published [by Yevgeniya Finkel] between 1991 and 1996 as the Herald of the [Eliezer Steinbarg] Society of Jewish Culture in Chernivtsi, with the support of the Association of the Prisoners of Nazi Ghettos and Concentration Camps and the Chernivtsi State Archive. The five issues of the Herald contained numerous recollections of Holocaust survivors who lived in Bukovina before, during, or after World War II; surveys of the Chernivtsi State Archive’s holdings concerning the Holocaust; lists of victims, perpetrators, and rescuers in various locations in Northern Bukovina; locations of mass executions and graves; and other related materials."
