Dear Ruth,

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words! Your important book helped me a lot to understand what happend in the past and I'm therefore grateful to you. Thank you! Yes, the roads of Ukraine are sometimes bumpy - but along the road are people who want to share their memories. Stories they heared from their parents about the Jewish neighbours - how they lived together in the same town door by door and how this ended. During the recent trip we experienced this several times - and its worth to listen.

Warm wishes,
Christian

Dear Christian,

I don’t write very often, but this time I felt the need to express my profound admiration for all you are doing for „The Vanished World "and for the few of us still alive, who had our roots in those areas you are visiting.
The pictures you are sending evoke painful feelings, and a lot of nostalgia, yet it is good to see them. I don’t know where you find so much energy and courage to travel these not very friendly roads, but it is commendable. Keep up your mission, and Yashar Koach!

Friendly and warm wishes,

Ruth

Our route included the impressive Jewish cemetery of Mohyliv-Podilskyi, Khotyn fortress and Jewish heritage sites in Buchach and Chortkiv. Originally not planned was a stop in Kamianets-Podilskyi – one of the largest mass killing sites from the time of the German occupation.
