With regards to the Jewish records from Czernwitz found on FamilySearch.org, could someone explain the difference between the
Metrical books, 1856-1940 and the Public records, 1780-1937? Are the metrical books and index of the public records or something totally different? I have been able to use the index as found on Geneasearch.net site for the metrical books but I have no idea on how to search the public records.
