Hi John,

I believe that birth, marriage, and death records are only to be found among the Metrical Books (which also include some handwritten indices). The "Public records" seem to contain Kultusgemeide records, correspondence, and possibly some court materials too. Much is handwritten in old style German script, but some is typewritten and easier to read.
