Shalom Joe,
This is a fascinating story !
I liked very much the photo of the sumptuous "Salon" in Solca 1902.
I believe those rooms are part of the famous Sanatorium compound advertised in the Bukovinaer press of 1893 :

We wish Dietmar a lot of success with the Music Festival in Czernowitz !

Subject: [Cz-L] Concert in Czernowitz next week
Belated L’Shana Tovah to all from one of the silent majority.
Six months ago I received a surprise email from Dietmar Friesenegger, a music PHD candidate at Cornell University, NY, who presented to me a published sheet music of a waltz composed in 1914 by my grandmother, Eleonora Poras, resident of Czernowitz. He has been researching composers from Czernowitz in the Chernivtsi archives and chanced upon this waltz.
Needless to say I was blown away, not knowing of my grandmother’s musical talents and never having met her as she passed away during the war years.
(How amazing for a woman to be published at that time, for even now,
100 years later, it is just as difficult.) Dieter has organized a concert festival of her composition and other Chernivtsi composers starting next Thursday, in Chernivtsi.
If you have the good fortune to be there, please enjoy for me!
As always I am indebted to those on this listserv who have so enriched my life over the years.
Please see details of the musical festival in the link below:
