Dear friends,
I am researching the family of my grandmother prior to a family trip
to Bukovina, and have some open questions I would appreciate your
input on.
My grandmother Rachel HUBNER was born in the small village Dikhtinets
on 1906. Her mother Mirl / Mirtzi TUCHMAN belonged to a big family
that was well known in the area. Her father Shlomo / Salomon Hubner
died around 1917 and I do not have any information about him. At some
point when my grandmother was a child, her family moved to live in
Wiznitz. Around 1935, she emigrated to Israel, and her mother followed
her. Most of her siblings were sent to Transnistria and two did not
return.
There are two things I was hoping find before our trip:
(1) Locating the grave of my great grandfather Shlomo Hubner. I
originally believed he was berried in Wiznitz, but could not find him
on JOWBR database for the cemetery in Wiznitz. So it is possible he is
buried elsewhere. Is there a cemetery in Dikhtinetz, or another big
cemetery around? Who can I contact that could help with such search?
(1) The family address Wiznitz, so my mother and I could visit the
house or the street in which my grandmother lived. Any ideas on how
such address can be found? I have a letter that was sent in 1929 to
"Familie Hubner, Wiznitz, Bukovina, Romania", but does not mention
their address.
I am slowly searching the Wiznitz vital records collection from
1918-1930, hoping to find the death record of Feiwel Tuchman, the
brother of my great-grandmother, who lived with her in Wiznitz in his
final years. He died in the 1920's, and maybe was registered in her
address. But so far was not able to find it.
Would love to receive any ideas or advises, and any other information
you might have on those families.
Best Regards,
Rachel Goldberg
Tel Aviv
