Greetings Czernowitzers!

I think I'm finally caught up, but if you don't see what you've sent me,
it might have disappeared. So, if that's the case, please send it again.
One thing I know that has gone astray is a report of a commission
looking into the Romanian government's complicity with the Nazis during
WWII. It was a PDF file, but I can't remember who sent it to me. I would
like to receive that again.

1. 15 new surnames have been added to the FamilyFinder, bringing to
total just over 350 names. Not bad. For the folks who have recently
joined the list: I don't list your surnames automatically when you join,
even if you give them when you introduce yourself to the list. So, when
you do join and you want your surnames to appear in the FamilyFinder (a
good idea), just email me (romers_at_shaw.ca) with: the surnames; the
town(s) each is associated with; your full name; and your email address.
If you have sent anything for the FamilyFinder, you might want to
check and let me know if it's not correct.

2. The Notable Czernowitzer spreadsheet has been updated and corrected
with eight new entries.

3. The Welcome message has a new picture that I didn't want you to
miss. This came from Daniel Dubowy, a new member of the group. A piece
of found history even if women's hats are not your interest -- thanks
Daniel. I will be moving this to the Miscellaneous section later, and
would be happy to receive a translation of the left hand side of the
card. If you're still seeing the 'temple' when you log on, hit the
refresh button a few times. Now, if anyone has any treasures hiding in a
shoe box that would be of interest to our little community, let's get
them to me.

4. Jane Reifer has come across a list of early Jewish Czernowitz
newspapers that are available from the Wideman library at Harvard
University. This is now in the Miscellaneous section.

5. In case you missed the note, the list Archives are now available
from the website -- you can find it in the Menu. I plan to update it
monthly.

6. Julia Lehr Dryewicz now has an entry in the Help Identify/Find
section -- maybe you can recognize some of these children?

7. Remember Hedwig Brener's 1928-30 school photos? Well, they have been
reposted, this time with names associated with the four class photos.
Nice work from Hedwig Brener!

That's it for now,
Best regards,
jerome

in case you're reading this from a Usenet post and haven't found the
website or are not on the mailing list.
