I am forwarding information from my wife (a former Czernowitzian) who
refuses to use a computer and because of her wartime experiences under
both Russian and German occupations is reluctant to answer too many
questions about former Romania, ( Mother - Tannenbaum, Father -
Druckmann).
Apropos the latest recipe interest, she says that most of the Jewish
families she knew, spoke German and food was misnamed by them. For
example 'schnitzel' was refused to as 'carbonaden' (please excuse a
unilingual Canadian's spelling).
She was wishing she had a recipe for "Wassersimmel" (again the
spelling)
