Dear All,

I think that very broadly speaking, the List serves two purposes - (1)
genealogical, i.e. to assist research into families from Czernowitz and the
Bukowina - and (2) cultural, i.e. helping to enlighten us about the
German-Jewish culture of pre-war Czernowitz, and how people lived.

The latter aspect is particularly important for the children of
Czernowitzers (i.e. like myself), who want to learn more about their
parents' / grandparents' way of life.

I feel that Lucca's "ramblings" etc are an important contribution to helping
us appreciate what life in pre-war Czernowitz was "really like". So I
really would like to encourage her to "step in again", and to continue to
enlighten and entertain us with her reminiscences. These are really
valuable, and much appreciated - I think they are absolutely central to what
the List is all about!

Best regards to all

David
