hi all, there is another route that warrants some thought. we could fly into
lviv(used to be lemberg) on ukraine international .they have a fleet of
modern boeing aircraft.then through galicia to czernowitz. it is a drive of
about 4 hours straight through the villages from fiddler on the roof. the
wooden houses, the well in the front yard ,the plough being pulled by 2
members of the family and others behind doing the planting. just that today
the inhabitants are ukrainians(who used to be called ruthenians),poles,
rumanians ...but no jews. also, for those who do not know, bukovina means
land of the buk ie beech tree, hence the german name buchenland......and
on the way to czernowitz the road goes through miles of deep beech forest.
this way noone has to fly on ukr. internal flights.we miss a night in
kiev,but so what! regards cornel
