Hello Nina, and List members
If I'm not mistaken it was I who recommended Mr. Yuri Prestupenko to some
List members following my visit in 2001. At that time he held a formal
position with the cemetery administration, and I contacted him through my
faithful guide Mrs. Zorema(Zoya) Danylovych from the Tourist office in Hotel
Cheremosh. I don't know how familiar some of you are with the way of life in
the former states of Eastern Europe (with the emphasis on the former Soviet
Union) but there is only one way a single person can make things done (if he
has the proper connection). That's why I admired so much the success of
Alti Rodal's delegation. Anyway, I gave the information to my friend Mimi
Taylor, and you can read in her report from years 2003, and 2004 on Jeromes
site that Mr. Prestupnko doesn't hold his position any more. The position of
the head of the cemetery administration is held now by Angelina Ivanonna
Nykolayeva. I am in the process of trying to rebuild one gravestone, and
restore another and in order shorten my stay in Czernowitz I still have to
have somebody reliable to locate , clean, contact the mason, etc. As you see
there is no single answer to what is the correct way on action. All this is
only an informative message.

Wish you all the best, and Shabbat Shalom
