Hello to the Chernovitsers,
It is important to remember that many things changed in the former USSR.
Some of these changes were very good and some brought out the ugly side of
people that were able to survive through manipulation, stealing, and lying.
This comment is not directed at anyone in particular, but it is a way of
life for some people in the former USSR. Having been born and raised in
Chernovitz, I have been privy to bribes and other, not so great situations.
I believe that it will take some time for people to get used to dealing with
others in a manner that we, here, are used to. The Western Mentality always
had a hard time understanding the Russian Nature of character. That does not
mean that all of the people are not trustworthy all of the time, it means
that solid connections and transparent dealings with locals will be most
beneficial.
If by writing my short e-mail offends somebody, please accept my apologies
and if clarification is needed I will be happy to offer that as well.
With best wishes and Shabbat Shalom
Marianna Kiva
