Dear Marianna
I apologize from the bottom of my heart if I have unintentionally hurt your
or anybody's else feelings.

Dear Iossi,
No offence was taken, not at all,

My memories of my childhood and adulthood are a bag of mixed emotions. I
have encountered situations that demonstrated how different people from the
west and Russians think. I was very fortunate to be raised in a home of
people, actively, practicing Judaism. My mind set was more in tune with the
society that we met upon our arrival to Winnipeg, Canada. Since then, I met
many Russian Jews and their thinking patterns were totally foreign to me.
And that led me to believe that assimilation does leave its mark upon
people. Having rambled about this, I will come to my main idea that when
people are forced to live in a certain environment they learn to behave in
certain ways. Does that mean we need to be a little bit "on guard" when
dealing with some of them? In my humble opinion, yes, we do.

I must add that it is a pleasure to exchange information with the group and
hear different opinions.
My husband and I will not be traveling to Chernovtsi in the near future. His
illness prevents us from going anywhere right now. The plans to go to Israel
(we have family), Romania (my husband is from (Piatra Niamts), and
Chernovtsi are certainly part of our future plans.

To all of you a very happy and healthy week,
Marianna Kiva
