Or, if feasible, test across a variety of platforms in your CFT. I
don't run either Mac or windoze, but would be interested in timings
for Linux and OS/2.

Of course, if you use different machines for different operating
systems then it may be hard to know whether timing differences are due
to the hardware or the software.
