Hi Miriam -

I've been wondering a bit about this as well. But our group normally
goes through cycles of great activity and then cycles of relative
silence. One of the extras provided by the planned reunion is that
the word is getting around and ex-Czernowitzers are turning up
everywhere . . . and they're very interested in Reunion 2006. I've
been thinking about posting a note to their Yahoo group encouraging
those who haven't yet joined the main Cz-L group to consider doing
so. It will be a terrific bonus for all of us if the new members of
the Yahoo group become part of our list, too.

I'd also like to encourage posts of a more general nature to be
shared with the Rom-Sig group on JewishGen.

On another note - while I was in Paris last week, my good friend
Sylvie Gsell (with Bukovina roots, too) took me to visit the Museum
of the Art and History of the Jews. We found in their collection two
tombstones from Czernowitz, ca. 1800. They must have come from the
old cemetery in Czernowitz (not the one on Zelena Street that we are
indexing.) I've written to the Museum for photos and information
about these two stones. They also had one tombstone from Siret, and
two photos of old synagogues from Czernowitz, pre-war.

Best regards,

Bruce
