Hi, David and fellow Czernowitzers,
Sorry, I was wrong regarding the name of Rudolfsplatz. After the
Habsburg period (1918) we used to call it "Mehlplatz" and not as I
specified it below. The name Fischplatz was given to the former
Elisabeth Platz.
Regards, Abraham K.

Dear Czernowitzers,
In the Musikvereinsaal we had Kino Zentral. It was indeed on the
Rudolfsplatz (in fact people called it "Fischplatz"). Somebody had told
me that in the past it was indeed Kino Urania. It was a nice Theatersaal
and from time to time they had classical music concerts. During the
German/Romanian occupation of 1941-1944 (the "Ghetto period") the
Romanian name was Cinema Central. The Musikverein did not exist anymore
and there were no classical music concerts.
I never heard about Henny Porten. It was almost probably long before I
was born (in 1926).
Happy Hanukka and regards,
Abraham K.
