Most of those clips are earnest, although not really according to reality,
but I was stunned by the Lindberg report according to which the kidnappers
of his son were caught in Czernowitz from the newspaper Der Tag dated
2/4/1932. I was less than 3 years old
but such an event would have been told and retold hundreds of times, so
surely it was
a newspaper "Ente". The content is full of exaggerations and irony opposing
world news to local small town interests.
Indeed if you read the names of the Kidnappers you get "Lachen Sie Aufsitzer
hereingefallen", meaning something like "do laugh, you were taken on a ride"
.
It was an example of Czernowitzer Humor Anno 1932. But written on April
fools day it makes sense.
