Dear friends,
Of course, the figure could be interpreted as "antisemitic cliché",
maybe there should be also a picture of a secular Jew opposite, to
balance the set-up. There are lots of similar figures in silver or other
metal in Israel (if you google-down "Meisler") being sold as typically
Jewish. Usually they look better-fed, sometimes being musicians
(klezmer), and wearing a shramel or a cap.
There are lots of interesting chapters with interesting photos, lots of
text, unfortunately most of us cannot read it. It is a great idea to
translate it, but it would have to
be done by a person with real command of English, and probably for a fee.
Looking at the home-page of this museum, if you click "contact", last
entry on the left ,there is a link to an e-mail address in Russia -
evromus_at_rambler.ru - but it mentions that the Museum director is
Natalia Shevkenko, and curator Josef Zissels (all in cyrillic letters) .
Therefore, who is responsible for text and photos?
Hardy is right, all our protests in vain?
The history chapter is very long, with interesting photos, but stops in
1940 when the Soviet Socialist .... enters the territory.
