Hi all,
I am a new member to the list and have not had a part in any of this. But I
must tell you that my mother and grandmother told me many stories about this
man. He was a personal friend of my grandfather, Gusutv Geday, and was
responsible numerous times for pulling their family off the line of death.
Just yesterday my mother told me a story about how his sister-in-law who
lived in their building, saw them standing waiting to board a train. As luck
would have it, there were not enough trains and they had to wait. She saw
them standing there and screamed "What are you doing there?" and ran to
Traian and received one of the infamous papers. They were saved for another
day.
There is a placque in the Holocaust Museum here in Washington, DC dedicated
to him that recounts his efforts. No doubt, many of you and your family are
here today because of him.
It is so wonderful that there will be the same in the place where this all
occurred.
I commend you!
Ilana Gordon
