The suburb where at the beginning of July 1941, the Germans shot a large
number of Jews (among them an uncle of mine, the most prominent victim was
Oberrabiner Mark) is called Bila. The military "prefect" was Gen. Gh. Calotescu,
his deputy a Gen. Ionescu.
