Greetings,

On my site, the Museum of Family History, you can now visit the webpage that
contains the full transcript of Dr. Julius Scherzer's talk given recently at
the International Association of Yiddish Clubs conference in La Jolla,
California. The link to this page is
www.museumoffamilyhistory.com/iayc2008-scherzer.htm.

I hope next to work on Prof. Meinhard (Hardy) Mayer's talk about "The
Yiddish and German Poets of Czernowitz." This will undoubtedly be very
interesting! I am hoping to include some recitations of the Yiddish and
German poetry featured in his talk at some point, hopefully by the time I
announce its readiness for viewing. I can't say when I'll have it done and
ready to present to you, but I'll keep you informed. I hope that many of you
have already visited the page about Selma Meerbaum-Eisinger, a young lady
from Czernowitz who wrote some lovely poetry in German during her teenage
years, before passing away in a Nazi SS camp in December 1942. The link is
www.museumoffamilyhistory.com/cz-meerbaum-eisinger.htm.

Besides the sound clip of Dr. Scherzer's account of the burning of the great
temple of Czernowitz offered on the page about Rabbi Mark
(www.museumoffamilyhistory.com/mfh-rabbis-ph-czernowitz.htm), you can also
hear four additonal clips on the Scherzer lecture page I've created. Of
course, turn on your speakers before you play the clip. Where indicated,
just click on the underlined link "Listen to it" to hear the clips, all
lasting under two minutes. Then after hearing the clip, you may continue on
reading, until the next clip is offered.
I am hoping that I'll be able to obtain a video recording of the talk and
put that too online, or at least part of it.

So please read Dr. Scherzer's eyewitness account of his life and the life of
his fellow Jews in Czernowitz. If you have any comments for Dr. Scherzer
after reading his talk, please let me know. I am hoping that he will join
our list sometime soon.

Lastly, remember that all the aforementioned webpages are on my site, the
Museum of Family History, not on the Czernowitz-L/ehpes list.

Best from me to all of you,
Steven Lasky
