Yesterday I received information according to which the city council
of Chernivtsi, will decide whether to approve the memorial plaque to
Traian Popovici by December 9th. They were supposed to make
this decision by the end of November, but for some reason they did not.

I believe that the chances of getting the approval for the plaque,
in it's last design and proposed location are very good.

I have inquired into the local customs about unveilings and have found,
that there usually are official unveilings of memorial plaques, so I think
that we shall have one too. By the time we get the official approval
and the plaque is made, it will be the coldest and snowiest part of winter.
I therefore would like to postpone the unveiling till the end of March,
or late in April. Early and mid-April are not suitable because of Passover,
Easter and Orthodox Easter.

I know that some members of this list would like to visit Chernivtsi
this coming spring, some have also written me, that they would like to be
present at the unveiling. All those who would like to be present at
the unveiling, please write me and let me know, whether you prefer March 30
or 31,or the 21st of April (27th of Nissan).
Should there be a controversy about the date, I believe that those among us,
who are Czernowitz survivors of the Holocaust, should be given first choice.

If a large number of people plan to come, we could arrange another
Czernowitz Reunion. Anyone interested?

Mimi
