I happened across a book in my local public library called "The Holocaust by
Bullets" by Father Patrick Desbois - it's subtitled "A priest's journey to
uncover the truth behind the murder of 1.5 million Jews" - in Ukraine -
village after village tens of thousands of Jews - men, women, children -
were systematically gathered, made to undress and shot by Germans who took
breaks to eat sausage and drink beer. Father Desbois works with the French
Conference of Bishops for relations with Judaism and is active with
Yahad-In-Unum and United States Holocaust Museum. The research he conducted
grew out of a life long quest triggered by the fact that his grandfather had
been interned in one of the camps as a French POW. Well written and very
humanistic
