Sorry,
I saw Cz as a Mittle Europa city closer to Prague and its German speaking
elite than to Moscow or Kiev.
Cz was taken from Romania by Stalin for losing WW2 and inherited by Ukraine
which does not look like it understands the soul of what it now "owns"

Hi Alain:

I'm not so well-versed in the history of this region, so please
correct me if I'm wrong. As I understood it, the city of Chernivtsi
is in an area that has been populated by numerous ethnic groups over
time. There was a strong Slavic presence (Ukrainian people?) when
this area was in the Kingdom of Galicia-Volhynia, a principality of
Kievan Rus between the 12th and 14th centuries. Later, from the 14th
century and for nearly 400 years it was part of the Principality of
Moldavia (Romanian people?). So, maybe I misunderstand you why you
are saying they were given this area for "no good reason". Can you
explain?
