If you go to our home page: http://czernowitz.ehpes.com you will find
a link to a version of the 1870 Czernowitz map referred to in Hardy's
post that is of much smaller file size (2.2MB) but still retains an
extraordinary level of detail. It should download fairly quickly and
work on older computers with limited memory.
The entire map now appears in our Maps section and was compressed from
the map posted by Edward Tur on LiveJournal. His original (6.6MB) map
is available at: http://tinyurl.com/md58yr
Edward's map was made from 30 separate screen shots and knitted
together to form a whole map.
**Note the reason 'tinyurl' is being used as above is that 'clickable'
references to 'LiveJournal' are getting caught in the Listserv's spam
filter.
