Thanks Gershon,

Mark Twain was right when he wrote about the horrors of the German language
. So, Google decided which word is the verb and put it on the end of the
sentence.

That is: "lieb" = love, to love. But, here "lieb" is part of the Doctor's
name , which is not "Stern", but "Sternlieb".

The Google translator is a quite smart machine: it has the capability to
improve through "learning". We ( everyone using it) are advised to write
the correct translation . By this way we will improve the performances.

As I guessed and Edgar wrote, the proper Obituary is published today.

If you like reading German please, read "Der Tag " !

Best wishes,
Irene

I read the German (gives me pleasure to do that every once in a while, the
same kind of pleasure I get from reading the lengthy discussion about
powidl, which my mom used to make), so was not very concerned with the
machine translation to begin with.  The story in German is much longer than
the translation and deals significantly with the man himself, rather than
just the graphic details of how he died.

I do not know where the machine got the idea to attach the word "lovers" to
the names of the doctors, so yes, it is amusing.
