One day my mother, Pearl Spiegel (Fichman), was walking on the
Herrengasse with her friend. A photographer took their picture. Paul
Celan happened to be in the frame, looking over his shoulder at the
posing couple. My mother shared the picture with John Felstiner who
used a cropped version of it (only showing Celan) on the cover of one
of his books, in part, as I understand it, because it was an unposed
photo, for him.
Sincerely,
Eytan

Hello, Celan's highschool graduation picture can
be found on Ehpes Photo Collection click on Lilian Madfes.
Petre Solomon spent 1944-46 in then Palestine. He felt "dezradacinat"
(uprooted) and returned to Bucharest. Celan spent two years
at the Meisler school. His parents could no longer afford it and
he transferred to Saffa Ivriah. Regards,
