Life, I think, can't be contained in 2 words happy or sad. Life is a
passage of ups and downs and, as I am nearly a century around, have
gone through so many different stages in it, can say that I found lingering
on sadness is most destructive. In order to survive and enjoy the "today" I
don't allow myself to keep disappointments, anger which might change into
hatred and morbidity do that. I have learned to forgive, accept and forget.
That makes my contact with my surrounding a better place to live in and ,as
Mimi writes, memories are our choice we can think back to the nice times
or dig up the things which sadden us, memories are something dear to us
thinking of all those who shared them and are no longer with us, however
sad they're sweet.
Life has been my teacher and it reminds me of a poem by Robert Frost "The
Road Not Taken" There were two roads diverging in a wood and I took the one
less travelled by >>>>" I chose the road of survival and taking things as
they come.
