I have been reading this list for many years, never writing only reading,
and
looking at pictures to learn what the country looked like when my
grandfather
lived in that area.
I recently learned that my grandfather who was born on September 15.1878
in Dereluy (Derelin),Austria and have been told that it is now part of
Czernowitz. I hope this is true.
He was married to my grandmother Sabina Teitelbaum in Snyatyn, Austria
about 1898 and soon after they immigrated to New York City. They arrived
in
December 1899. I have the ship's manifest.
My grandparents separated after having 4 daughters and he moved to
Pittsburgh, PA while his wife and daughters remained in New York City.
Grandpa died in Pittsburgh, PA in 1940.
I am his oldest granddaughter, the daughter of Anna Agatstein Sanders,
(his
second daughter). I have been doing my family genealogy for many years,
Of the four daughters, only two had children, my mother Anna. I am Anna's
only child.
Adolf and Sabina's oldest daughter, Regina Agatstein Wolfman, had a
daughter
and son (they both have passed on)
I prepared a family tree for the complete family in March 2010! Everyone
has a copy, it is a very small family, and my tree indicates 36
descendents! Perhaps
someone can help me learn about my grandfather, his parents, and siblings,
if any.
Thanks for any help or advice you can give,
Elaine Sanders Kaplan,
