Hi Mark,

The transcription of the two register entries you were looking for, reads as follows:

Geburtsmatrik [Birth Register]

[Zeile] 58
[Geburt] 4.2.1883 Czernowitz Rosch 42
[Namensbeilegung] 5.2.1883 Czern.
[Name] Beile
[Geschlecht] w
[Stand] uneh.
[Vater] Schabse Schabse Taglöhner
[Mutter] Sure T. des verst. Joel Habermann in Rosch u. der Jached geb. Dober
[Anmerkung] Ehelich legitimirt am 21/3 1889

By the remarks in the Marriage Register Schabse Scha[b/p]se and Sure Etie Habermann were proving their age [52] in the marriage year 1889 and they were legitimizing their six children Peritz Meier, Selde, Frimzie, Feige, Lea Hinde and Beile [see Birth Register]. The civil registration of the marriage in front of the Austrian authorities was not unusual at all at that particular time, despite the fact that for sure the couple was married according to Jewish rite years or even decades earlier.

We do hope these data will be helpful to you. Warmest wishes from Germany!

Edgar Hauster

Subject: [Cz-L] Is this a delayed marriage record?

Hi - I'm confused by something I found on
https://czernowitz.geneasearch.net/index.php

I am researching the descendants of "Schabse Schabse" and "Sara Ette
Haberman", who were born between 1864-1885

Using the above link, I found a 1889 marriage between "Schabse Schabse"
and "Sara Ette Haberman". Is this just a coincidence?

Here's a link to the microfilm image of that Czernowitz marriage record,
on familysearch. It's a mess to read, but can anyone tell me if this
really is the marriage for those names? If so, either these are
different people. Or could it be a delayed marriage record?

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS9B-7Q8L-G?cat=1378569

Also, here's a link to the last birth of the parents that I'm
researching, from 1885. On line 58.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS9R-156W?cat=1378569

All the way to right for that record, there's an 1889 date written in
the last column. Can anyone tell me what that date means? Is it just
a coincidence, that the year, happens to be the year of the above
marriage record? Or could it be referencing that record?

Thanks for any help that anyone can provide. Thanks!

Mark
