> Dear friends,

I am excited about the travel plans. My husband Leo and I are planning
to join you either for both parts or just in Czernowitz. As some of
you know, we are in the process of writing a second generation
memoir/cultural history of Czernowitz tentatiely entitled "Ghosts of
Home: Czerowitz and the Holocaust." We have been there twice, once
with my parents, native Czernowitzers Lotte and Carl Hirsch, in 1998,
and another time with second generation friends Florence Heymann,
author of "Le Crepuscule des lieux" , and David Kessler, in 2000. One
article we published based on our 1998 trip is on the website under
"Miscellaneous Items." We have also lived in/traveled to Vienna on
numerous occasions.

I think it would be useful to collect short bios of those planning to
go on the trip and I would be glad to do that. Please send me names,
addresses/emails, your connection to Czernowitz, whether you've been to
Vienna or Czernowitz before and I'll compile these and send out.

I have a cousin living in Chernivtsi, Felix Zuckermann, who might help
us with local arrangements, as would Helmut Kusdat of Vienna whoi is
very well connected in contemporary Chernivtsi and could help arrange
guides and accommodations.

We do have street maps of different periods and it will be possible to
find family addresses.

I look forward to receiving your brief bios and hearing more about
plans, best, Marianne
