Dear Czernowitzers,

RE: THE HOTEL
I stayed in the hotel Bukovina July 30 - Aug 2 this year - it was
extraordinarily hot and there is no air conditioning. I would qualify
their accommodations as fair. While relatively clean, The Hotel is worn
out and all amenities are likewise a bit on the tired side. I did not
see any conference capability. The day we checked out, the Front Desk
called our room to ask us for copies of our VISA receipts as somehow
they had failed to retain their hotel copies. When they asked if they
could keep our copies, we declined. Several long distance phone called
were missed as the front desk appeared unable to get us messages while
we were out. I only drove by the Cheremosh so I don't have a clue how
it compares. I have, however, heard that there are 'private" hotels
that are charming, clean, and more comfortable. they may be worthy of
investigating.

RE: THE CEMETERY
I believe applying "pressure" at this juncture on anyone for any reason
to get something done doesn't strike me as wise. My preference is to
seek ways we can build good relationships with partners, whomever they
turn out to be, so we can achieve a shared positive outcome - for us
whose loved ones are laid to rest there, and for all others whose stake
in a revived, restored Jewish Cemetery may remain in many cases yet
unknown to us.

This brings me, again, to the suggestion that this on-line community
consider putting together a team of say 3-5 people who could spearhead
an initiative to get the needed information concerning the Cemetery's
status, come up with some recommended actions, and then report back to
our on-line community on what we've learned. It still feels like
everybody's got an opinion, some have taken anecdotal or perhaps
concerted initiatives here and there, but nothing really is happening.
I believe that working collaboratively, we could get something accomplished.

Thoughts?

Best wishes,
Nina
