Thank you Avram, for writing and explaining.
Do you know why this Jewish History Encyclopedia is in Russian?

To me, it does not matter what the origin of the picture is.
What matters, is that in this picture a large Moorish style building
is depicted together with a strange looking person, almost identical
to the Anti-Semitic caricatures, which we often saw in the past.
The artist could have used a picture of Maimonides or one of Israels'
paintings as a model for a Jewish figure.

I shall greatly appreciate it, if you could find out to whom,
of those responsible for this website, I could write in order to ask,
that they change he picture.
