Here is a copy of Marcel Spiegler's very interesting comment:

I was a 14 year old kid roaming the streets .
To the best of my knowledge there was no fighting around Cz.
There was one incident in the morning .
A retreating platoon marching south on the corner of Ringplatz and
Rathousstrasse (in front of the shoe store Dermata) ,were harassed, they
stopped kneeled down and opened fire ,one round .After they left two young
men were found dead who got a heroic funeral next day.
.towards evening the Soviet troops arrived occupied strategic position and
installed a 7 o'clock curfew.

Thanks to Marcel, Abraham, Berti and Mimi for your comments.
They confirm what I knew: there was no fighting.
In Jean Ancel's book (Yad Vashem, 2002) there is a chapter about the events
of summer 1940.
The retreat of the Rumanian army was very fast indeed.

The many panicked Rumanian refugees told terrible stories which were
documented by the Jandarmeria and are still in the archives.
The Rumanian press exacerbated the shocking news, of course, and... the Jews
had to pay the price, as Berti mentioned.

Another question: do you know something about a general mobilisation of
reservists to the rumanian army in June 1940?

Were there Czernowitzer Jews serving in the Rumanian army during the retreat
at the end of June 1940?
Regards,
Irene
