Dear Jessica, my father also sang this haunting song and it wasn't until 19=
94 when I interviewed 2 survivors from Mielnica, Galicia (the town my mother=
came from) that I learned what the Pripetshok/Pripetshik was. This inspired=
me to write a musical based on my research called Mama! I Can See the Town!=
! I took the liberty of including girls in my verse.
The original song was sung by a girls' choir as the background to the movie=
 SHINDLER'S LIST.

Enjoy singing and passing this fabulous song unto your family and friends.

Song-lyrics #10 Pripetshik(dance) by Jeanne Blitzer Andelman)
                        PRIPETSHIK (STOVE-OVEN)
MODERATO (sung in a round and danced)

                        Pripetshik, Pripetshik,
                        Source of all our nourishment,
Bakes the bread, dries the corn,
                        Mostly keeps us warm!
Wood and coal against the wall,
Feeds this wondrous thing of all!
In the kitchen large and strong,
                        Burning brightly all night long!
Pripetshik, Pripetshik, how we love your song!
