[Cz-L] translation of the song Oyfin Pripetshok

Dear Jessica, my father also sang this haunting song and it wasn't until 19=
94 when I interviewed 2 survivors from Mielnica, Galicia (the town my mother=
 came from) that I learned what the Pripetshok/Pripetshik was. This inspired=
 me to write a musical based on my research called Mama! I Can See the Town!=
! I took the liberty of including girls in my verse.
The original song was sung by a girls' choir as the background to the movie=
 SHINDLER'S LIST.

I want to thank Doris and Fred and Gaby, and
Jerome too, for bringing these songs,
translations and videos to us. I've been
entranced for the better part of an hour. Some of
our Falikman family went to Birobijian all those
many years ago, but when their father died at a
young age, his wife and two young children left
for a better life in Moscow. As for the other
videos that appear alongside Doris' beautiful
one, the song "Oyfen Prepechik" is one of two
songs my father used to sing to me as a bedtime
lullaby. It brings tears to my eyes even now and
I've sung the first verse to my children, but I
hadn't remembered the other verses, and I cannot
translate from the Yiddish . Please, would
someone translate all the verses into English for
me so I can pass them along to my children and grandchildren? Thank you aga=
in.
