Me too, I was the same age, (4 and a half) than Asher, when we left
Czernowitz .......
Why I am also always dreaming of Czernowitz ??
Why I am so much in love with Czernowitz ?? Because I always heard speaking,
so much and so nicely, about everything : the town, the streets, the people,
the weather, the beautiful places, the Prut, the excursions, etc.
My whole family was always dreaming of Czernowitz ......
When we arrived in Paris in the 50's, my parents were always looking for
"Czernowitzers" : at that time, there were in Paris the brothers Brumberg,
who every year celebrated a "Czernowitzer Ball" and invited all the people
from Czernowitz ...... It was heaven !!! ......
Unfortunately, when the Brumberg's died, there were no more these beautiful
"balls", nobody took over.
I also can remember, when my mother was no more alive, (she died very young
in 1966), that Charles Rosner's mother had appointments the week-ends in a
coffee-bar with some ladies from Czernowitz, I also went sometimes.
And when I first returned to Czernowitz in 1996, my mother's sister did
trace for me a detailed map, with the names of the main streets of the town,
which she still did remember exactly very well !!
Sorry for this long mail.
All the best to everybody.
Lydia.
