hi, have recipes for tocz and malai which are the two things mentioned in
the article. however hedwig has already sent tocz so i wll send the malai
.i have it in german so if i get the translation wrong i,m sure someone will
correct me! the other shavuot dish was vrenikes which are what these days
are called pirogi or piroshki.... pockets of dough filled with meat or
cheese. so, malai : 4 eggs with the whites "puffed up" in a mixer,2 low fat
ie 2% yoghurts,2 packs of 250gm low fat ie 5% cheese, 3/4 pack of margerine
, a glassful of maize flour ,3/4 of a glass white flour with baking powder
to i glass ,3/4 glass sugar, 1 to 2 glasses of icing sugar, lemon peel. mix
and put in baking dish on oiled paper in oven set at 200 for1/2 hour and
keep oiling the top. i wiill send this now with the original german
version to follow . enjoy! cornel
