Czernowitzer 2006 Reunion News.
From a ëCzernowitzerí reunion this has become a ëworldí tour. From my
point of view, I believe that we should meet in Czernowitz
I originally thought that a meeting in Vienna would be nice, but after
reading the suggested tour in the Czernowitzer 2006 Reunion News, I
think it got out of hand.
As a former Czernowitzer my interest is the domicile of our forefathers,
the streets we walked, the schools we attended, the houses we lived in
and our general daily lifestyle back then.
The towns which should be of interest to former Bukovieners are first
Czernowitz, Sadagura, Radauti, Solca, Gura Homorului etc. not Bulgaria
or Cluj etc. Vienna is not the home of our forefathers.
If participants wish to visit Vienna, Bulgaria etc, it should not be
included in this reunion, and they can make their own arrangements to
visits the hotspots which are of interest to them.
A further suggestion all of us can find historical records in the
Czrnowitzer archives which are apparently well maintained.
I have also been following the discussion of flying in to Czernowitz.
I would like to qualify myself, I am a retired United States, FAA
Aviations Safety Inspector. I have also worked for 2 years in the old
Soviet Union and I am familiar with the equipment and the nonchalant
attitude towards security and safety. My suggestion, fly only with a
western airline. I would rather be on a rickety bus than on an
Antonov-24 built around 1960. (picture attached)
I believe this is the aircraft that is used between Kiev and Czernowitz.
I hope this has not irked some of the interested participants, but this
my opinion.
Best regards
